INSPIRING, LIFE-CHANGING ADVENTURES

TO REMOTE, FAR-AWAY PLACES FOR STUDENTS OF ALL UNDERGRADUATE DEGREES

Xavier Expeditions offers wilderness-immersion programs for credit and enrichment. It is intentionally not merit-based and open to all of Xavier’s undergraduate majors and to students from other universities.
We focus on our most basic role within the life-earth-universe story. Through wilderness immersion, we facilitate self-discovery of earth as our primary reality, healer and teacher.

What makes Xavier Expeditions unique is not what lessons our faculty have to offer. More essentially, our expeditions focus on what Earth has to teach all of us.

These lessons, if we are open to them, will help us return to the road of life. If we want to learn how to become a viable species, to live in a way that is mutually enhancing for humans and other-than-humans, then we must be open to what Earth is teaching us and to the healing medicine she provides.

At this critical moment, after a long sleep, we are awakening to a reality that our ancient ancestors have long known--that the earth community is primarily a wilderness community that refuses to be made into a collection of resources without consequence; that we are, at the core of our being, a derivative species held subject to the same basic ecological laws--laws as old as life itself--to which all other beings have been adhering for billions of years; that these same ecological laws, when we are open to their wisdom, reveal a way for us to become a more viable species; and, that the way to becoming more viable requires embracing our role as that special mode of conscious self-awareness through which the universe becomes aware of and celebrates itself.

What happens to the outer world happens to the inner world.
